Borrisoleigh Flooding Devastates Local Residents – Willie Kennedy

Cllr. Willie Kennedy has called from action from the Council to prevent flooding occurring in Borrisoleigh village. Homes in the village and in particular in the Chapel Street area were devastated by floods following the very heavy rain last Thursday night.

Cllr. Willie Kennedy stated;

Borrisoleigh

“It was terribly disappointing to see such horrendous damage caused to so many houses in Borrisoleigh village. With flood waters rising in the middle of the night it was a very frightening experience for the residents. As a Council we must do all that we can to try and prevent flooding ever occurring in the area again.”

“I have submitted a Notice of Motion for our upcoming Thurles/Templemore Municipal District meeting, calling on the Council to examine the river, and particularly the bridges, downstream of Borrisoleigh to ensure there are no obstructions that could cause further flooding in the village in the future.”
