The Mayor of Clonmel/Cahir Borough District, Cllr. Martin Lonergan has welcomed confirmation from the Chief Executive Officer of Bus Eireann, Mr Martin Nolan that a revised route 7 service will be introduced servicing the Villages of Ardfinnan, Clogheen and Ballyporeen.
Bus Eireann’s Expressway Route 7 (Dublin – Kilkenny – Clonmel – Cork and return) service will remain in place in its current form until June 28th 2015. The revised X7 (Clonmel – Kilkenny – Dublin – Dublin Airport) service has been approved by the National Transport Authority and will come into operation on Sunday, 28th June 2015.
The X7 service will deliver the following:
16 (8×8) daily services between Clonmel – Kilkenny – Dublin – Dublin Airport utilising the motorway network
- Clonmel to Dublin in just 2 hours
- Kilkenny to Dublin in just 80 minutes
- New daily connections (16) from Clonmel – Kilkenny to Dublin Airport
- Certain departures/arrivals co-ordinated at Clonmel via route 55 to allow Carrick on Suir passengers easy transfer
As part of the introduction of the revised X7 service, the National Transport Authority in conjunction with Bus Éireann will introduce a revised Route 245 timetable, which will deliver the following enhancements to that service:
5 Daily services (Monday – Friday) from Clonmel to Cork via Mitchelstown & Fermoy
3 Daily services (Saturday) from Clonmel to Cork via Mitchelstown & Fermoy
3 Daily services (Sunday & Public Holidays) from Clonmel to Cork via Mitchelstown & Fermoy.
All the above services will operate via Ardfinnan, Clogheen and Ballyporeen.
The National Transport Authority will be making detailed schedule information and a revised Route 245 timetable available on its website in the coming weeks according to Cllr. Lonergan.
